Our place in Wales, Ty Carreg, is getting a makeover as work kicks off to install a brand new kitchen facility in this popular hillside hideaway.
Ty Carreg is the Stonehouse Gang’s Adventure Residential Centre nestled on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales.
Regularly used by The Gang and other youth groups, organisations and families, Ty Carreg has been a favourite for many people over the years, but the kitchen was starting to look its age and so the time had come to undertake a serious makeover.
With generous grants from The Eveson Charitable Trust, The Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation and The Peter Kershaw Trust, as well as money collected from charitable donations by the public – we have been able to progress work at the centre.
And last weekend a crack team of volunteers started the preparation work for the new kitchen; replacing the ceiling, lighting, plastering the walls and laying a new floor. Working until 4am in the morning, this extraordinary group of ‘warriors’ undertook a total DIY SOS-style makeover ready for the kitchen to be installed in the next few weeks.

Interested in volunteering at The Stonehouse Gang? It doesn’t always have to be about working with the young people, we also need people with practical and business skills as we operate on a very tight budget. To find out more please take a look at our volunteer page and get in touch
